Dear Valued A2 Hosting Customer,
Like all web hosting companies, we are faced with the challenge of balancing stability with the need to update and upgrade both hardware and software to keep up with ever changing technology. The hosting server your account currently resides on has been marked for decommissioning. This means that will we have to move your hosting account to a newer faster server that has more up to date hardware and software. While this will give you the benefits of newer technologies and more processing power, RAM, and disk space, you may encounter some problems with the migration if you do not prepare. Currently the versions of the major software packages running on this server are:
Hostname: a2s4.a2hosting.com
Operating System: CentOS 3.9
Apache: 1.3.37
PHP: 4.4.4 & 5.1.4
MySQL: 4.1.21
PostgreSQL: 8.0.8
the versions on the NEW server will be:
Hostname: a2s24.a2hosting.com
Operating System: CentOS 4.5
Apache: 1.3.37
PHP: 5.2.1
MySQL: 4.1.22
PostgreSQL: 8.2.1
Due to this change in version of software, some websites may not function correctly on the new server without modification. While we are happy to assist during this migration phase as much as possible, we cannot debug or modify any website programming for you. We strongly encourage if you are not a developer yourself, that you contact the maintainer of your website with the information above so they will be prepared to make the necessary changes in the new hosting environment.
**Postgresql user note**
If you are using a postgresql database, please pay attention to the below:
As a consequence of our server migration, certain postgresql users and schemas will be locked out.
Unfortunately, to restore these we will need permission to reset, or for you to provide your cPanel, and postgresql user account passwords. This is due to the nature of cPanel's permissions wrappers. Please open a ticket with the information at support.a2hosting.com prior to the migration. Failure to do this will result in non-operational postgresql databases.
**Frontpage users**

While frontpage will work on new webs, and should work on existing webs, we can provide no further support for frontpage, as legally, we are *NOT* allowed to redistribute this technology further. Due to the fact this is a legal matter, we must decline any and all support for Frontpage.
We have scheduled your server migration to take place on:
Starting Window: Saturday September 15th, 8pm US Eastern time
End Window: 24 hours later
Each account will be moved individually and we will not be able to give an exact time due to not knowing when your account will come up.
You may notice some website and email downtime while your site is being moved to the new hosting server due to DNS caching when your IP address changes however none of your email should be lost. We do apologize for this however maintenance of this nature is required every few years in order to ensure continued quality of service and modern hardware.
